New Release Details

Here’s when the tri-fold Huawei Mate XTs is coming and how much it should cost

A few days ago some more details leaked regarding Huawei’s upcoming successor to the Mate XT, the original tri-fold smartphone, which launched last year.

Now, a new source purports to bring us the exact launch date for the Mate XTs, which is apparently what the new device will be called. It will allegedly be presented on September 12, which is the same week that Apple will launch the iPhone 17 family, according to a recent rumor.

That’s interesting timing to say the least. If true, perhaps Huawei wants to steal some of Apple’s thunder, so to speak, which it may very well succeed in doing inside China, where it reigns supreme.

The Mate XTs is rumored to cost around CNY 20,000, which at the current exchange rates means $2,786 or €2,422. For reference, note that the original Mate XT started at CNY 19,999, so its successor will be priced about the same.

The Mate XTs will compete head-on in the Chinese market with Samsung’s upcoming tri-fold smartphone, which is going to be announced later this year and has been rumored to only launch in Korea and China at first. It remains to be seen what that model’s pricing will be.
