Nintendo sold almost 6 million Switch 2 units in less than a month

The Switch 2 continues to be a very successful product for Nintendo. Following over 3.5 million units sold in the first week, Nintendo has now announced that it’s sold 5.82 million units by the end of June.

That’s almost a full month of availability, and the number is more than double what the original Switch managed in its first month on the market – 2.7 million units sold.

Nintendo says demand for the Switch 2 is still exceeding supply “in many countries”, and regrets the inconvenience this is causing. It’s promised to increase production to match demand everywhere. The Switch 2 has become the fastest-selling game console of all time.

The Switch 2’s success has driven a 132% rise in quarterly revenue for Nintendo in Q2 (April to June), up to $3.8 billion, compared to Q2 2024 (around $1.6 billion). The company is forecasting 15 million Switch 2 units sold by the end of March next year.

It remains to be seen how US tariffs may or may not impact that, as the Trump administration has just announced a 20% tariff on imports from Vietnam, where the Switch 2 is manufactured (up from 10% before).
